History

So what are the Royal Brewers? A long time ago people discovered the secrets of brewing. Soon after the initial discovery some grandmaster alchemists, who were intrigued by the effects the new brews had on the mind, started taking brewery to higher levels.

They believed it wasn’t an invention of men, but a gift from the gods. They started experimenting and made their alcoholic beverages stronger by adding powerful herbs to enhance the drinks. This group drank their brews excessively to get revelations and also attempted to make contact with the god who they believed had blessed mankind with this great gift.

In time the group exiled themselves more and more from the cities and villages, they ended up in an old abandoned monastery where they continued their work in complete privacy.

This is where they reached a milestone in their experimenting, as a brewer named Igor Karachze, the oldest member of the group, claimed he succeeded in contacting the God who was responsible for the magical gift. The name of the god was Spiritus and he had told Igor that the enlightenment found by this group through the use of their alcoholic beverages should be spread throughout the land, if they succeeded in doing this then the land would be ruled by he law of Spiritus and they would be the rulers of all mortals in the world.

This new found prophecy led to the creation of Le Cercle, an order within the Royal Brewers Guild that makes sure this goal is maintained.
Le Cercle in their first meetings planned the blueprints for reaching this goal. They created three groups within the guild to execute the plan.

The Legion of Spiritus.

A mighty army of holy warriors, they are supplied with the strongest of all alcoholics to enhance battle performance. Their high zeal makes them feared amongst even the most elite groups of warriors in the land. In time of peace the Legion patrols the land and the Royal Brewers City. They can be found in many Taverns and Inn’s while patrolling. Unlike popular belief this not because they are drunks but because Taverns and Inn’s are hubs for beers and other alcholics they need to be well protected obviously.

The Royal Brewing Corporation.

This is one of the earliest corporations if not the first corporation in the land of mortal online. It provides a platform for resource gatherers, crafters and merchants to cooperate. They are the backbone of the guild because they supply the best goods and brew finest alcohol to aid the guild. Also this corporation is given the freedom to maximize profits and is in turn for their goods/discounts aided by the guild in expanding their economic empire.

The Diplomatic Order

The Order was created to work on relations with other guilds and royal houses. The most experienced talkers and negotiators join this Order. They also keep the guild updated with what’s going on in the world. Because they always give a bottle of the finest booze as a token of goodwill they are welcome guests at most embassies. Some more barbaric guilds however seem to exploit this friendly gesture by taking the bottle and returning the decapitated head.

After watching the groups that were formed, Igor Karachze the member that had made contact with Spiritus, to his dismay noticed there was no group for their new found religion. The other Le Cerle members had been ignoring his ideas because he had behaved rather strangely since his “revelation”. In his anger he created a fourth group. Since some Le Cercle members and lots of the followers that had gathered around the group believed firmly in Spiritus and the revelation, they had no choice other then to accept this fourth group to avoid internal struggles.

SpiritusNobiscum

The religious Order of the guild. It’s members are not only believers, they are fanatical followers. They use the brews excessively to gain enlightenment. The members of this group are dedicated converters and are called Booze Witnesses. They also are a formidable addition on the battlefield, they aid the guild with blessed beer and liquor, healing and magic, they curse our foes and pray to Spiritus for victory. Even though most of them are not as physically strong and experienced as the warriors of the Legion of Spiritus, their absurd high zeal and devotion to Spiritus makes them one-man-armies that can kill many enemies. Either that, or they get killed by an arrow whilst storming an enemy defense line in a frenzy.

Igor Karachze changed his name and title to “Pope Igor Vodka I”. After his dead he was remembered as “Pope Igor Vodka I, the mad drunk”. From then on the SpiritusNobiscum has been led by Pope’s that upheld the naming and title system introduced by Igor.
Another event that occurred after Pope Igor Vodka I’s death was the creation of the Royal Brewers Codex of Law. The constant struggles between the four groups, and in particular the quarreling between SpiritusNobiscum and the Legion of Spiritus, being the main reason for this. Since the Pope’s “inspired” commands are holy to many religious followers in the guild, the Pope is able to initiate Holy Wars. All the military command chain can do in such an event is cooperate and in most cases they are eager to do so.

In some cases however, Le Cercle and the military leaders doubted the sanity of the Pope when declaring a Holy War.Therefore the Papal Overruling Act was written, that gives Le Cercle , when voted unanimously, the power to render a Papal command void before its gets made public.
Another ploy of Le Cercle to keep a bit more control over the Papacy was the Papal Ruler Selection Act in which it is stated that when a Pope for any reason needs to be replaced Le Cercle chooses the next Pope, this is always one of the Bishops.

For generations now the guild has prospered, there are still some frowns here and there between the different groups but the Codex of Law has kept the guild together. The guild has maintained the highest standards of liquor and is known for being the main supplier of beer and liquor for many mortals in the land.
